Keyghan Lewis Intern Introduction Fall 2023

My name is Keyghan Lewis and I am a senior anthropology major at UNH. I am also a minor in Native and Indigenous Studies. At UNH I am part of the Indigenous NH Collaborative Collective. Last semester I was a part of an INHCC panel at the Undergraduate Research Conference and focused on Wabanaki Basket weaving in New England. This fall I am an intern at Strawbery Banke where my focus is on archaeology. I am cataloging archaeological finds from the Oracle House.

I am a passionate student and my interests lie in forensics and bioarchaeology. I have worked to identify paleopathological diseases in ancient remains and have worked to expand DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) when looking at human remains. I hope to work with NAGPRA coordinators in the future to repatriate Native and Indigenous remains in New Hampshire.

This fall I hope to expand my archaeological knowledge and my cataloging skills. I am also focusing on different ceramic types that have been found here at Strawbery Banke and their significance. I look forward to an awesome semester here!
